How Do You Light Gas Logs?
- Depending on what kind of ignition system your gas fireplace has, you can manually or remotely light your gas logs.

For a manual piloted ignition system, turn the knob to “pilot” and press down. While depressing the control knob, push the ignition switch every few seconds until the pilot lights. Keep pressing the control knob for 30 seconds and then gradually disengage. Turn the control knob to the “ON” position.

For automatic piloted systems, simply find the wall switch near the fireplace and turn it on. The pilot will attempt to light which will be noted by a visible arc at the pilot and a ticking noise. Once the pilot lights, the logs will then come on as well.
How Do You Clean Gas Fireplace Logs?
- Begin by turning the gas that fuels your fireplace off, then disassemble your fireplace, taking apart the logs and burner.
- Inspect your gas fireplace system to ensure all components are in working order, and no damage is present. Use a small brush or handheld vacuum to clear away dust and cobwebs, remove any residue from the mantle and hearth using a damp cloth and polish any glass or metal to shine brightly while on display.
- Reassemble your gas fireplace and turn the gas back on.
How Do You Arrange Gas Fireplace Logs?
The arrangement of your gas fireplace logs depends on what type they are: vented or ventless. Vented logs can be arranged in any position you like, as long as you allow for gas and air flow by leaving about two inches of space between each log.
