PROPANE FOR FIRE PITS

Propane fire pits make outdoor entertaining a fun, affordable option year-round. Traditional log fires can be hard to assemble and require continuous feeding; it’s also worth noting that not all communities allow log fire pits. Propane fire pits are easy to use and safe to operate, available in a variety of styles and sizes to best suit your tastes and needs. Choose from purely decorative fire pits for ambience, or more robust pits for heating and cooking. Enjoy the outdoors no matter the season with your propane fire pit.

Portable Propane Fire Pit

Portable propane fire pits are practical for users who camp or want to take the ambience created by their fire pit elsewhere. Portable fire pits are often extremely user-friendly and minimal in design and size for easy transport to outdoor areas beyond your backyard.

Propane Tank Sizes for Outdoor Fire Pits

At My Propane Butler, we offer a range of propane tanks from 20-100 lbs to meet your heating and small appliance needs. To fuel your propane fire pit, select a 20 lb tank. At maximum output, your fire pit will burn for about 4-4.5 hours. At a more moderate output, this tank can supply your fire pit for 8-9 hours.

Propane Fire Pit FAQs

Propane fire pits are designed to provide warmth and ambience for your outdoor gatherings. Learn more about how to safely use propane fire pits in your backyard or outdoor space.

How Do You Light A Propane Fire Pit?

Lighting your propane fire pit is relatively easy and safe, if done properly.

  • Always be sure to start with the flame before the fuel; if you allow the gas to circulate before your lighting instrument has a flame, you risk being burned by a bigger, uncontained flame.
  • Keep yourself at a distance from the flame by using a long lighter pushed near the burner. You can then open the propane valve to allow contact between the fuel and flame.
  • Your propane fire pit should light and remain lit for as long as you like. When you’re ready to turn the fire pit off, simply close the propane valve.
Do Propane Fire Pits Give Off Heat?

Propane fire pits do give off heat and can be burned at varying heat outputs depending on your preferences. They are easy to light and begin producing heat immediately.

Can You Roast Marshmallows on a Propane Fire Pit?

Propane fire pits are a versatile part of outdoor entertaining and can be used decoratively or for cooking purposes. You can roast marshmallows over a propane fire pit, but be sure to keep the burner and fire media clean of any food residue to prevent any damage or blockage of the burner ports.

Are Propane Fire Pits Safe?

Natural gas and propane fire pits are significantly safer to light and maintain than log fire pits. To further lower user risk, select a fire pit that has CSA approval indicating high quality and durability. Never leave the fire unattended, and be sure to close the propane valve to turn off the fire pit at the end of use.

How Long Do Propane Fire Pits Last?

As previously mentioned, most propane fire pits burn using a 20 lb tank. With this tank, your fire pit will burn for about 4-4.5 hours at maximum output. At a more moderate output, this tank can supply your fire pit for 8-9 hours.

Can You Use a Propane Fire Pit Indoors?

Propane fire pits are for outdoor use only. Indoor areas like living spaces, garages or other enclosed spaces do not provide the proper ventilation for your propane fire pit; using a fire pit inside increases the risk of fire-related accidents.
